Jakob Mahase, baritone
Jakob Mahase is a 24 year old baritone studying with Dr Robert Alderson, and Mairéad Hurley in The Conservatory of Music in Dublin. He has just completed his honours degree in Classical Vocal Performance. Jakob possesses a young strong baritone voice perfectly suited to singing a variety of pieces from the lyricism of Mozart, to the technicality of Rossini and Donizetti, to the bombastic power of Verdi.
Jakob has taken part in a variety of productions through the years. During his time of study in The Conservatory, he performed in their production of the Marriage of Figaro in 2016. Jakob participated in Lyric Operas production of Carmen in 2016. Jakob took part in Bowdon Opera Companies production of Madame Butterfly in the summer of 2016 where he played the role of Uncle Yakuside. The following year, in 2017 he played the role of Masetto in Bowdons production of Don Giovanni. In March 2017 Jakob participated in a staged production of the Oratorio Susanna, with the Conservatory of music in Dublin, where he played one of the leading roles of Chelsias. He again played this role when the production was taken to the UK with the Norfolk Trust Music Festival that summer. In September 2017 Jakob took part in Lyric Operas production of La Traviata. In October 2017, Jakob sang the lead role of Giuseppe in Mozart’s Cosi van Tutti for Flatpack Opera in Manchester. Jakob sang as part of The Blackwater Opera festival in their production of L’Italiana de Algiers in May 2018. Jakob sang the role of Papageno for the Bowdon Opera Festivals production of Die Zauberflöte in June 2018. Jakob has sung with Irish National Opera in their production of Aida and sang the role of Dandini from La Cenerentola in their Young Artist Concert. He will return to Irish National Opera to take part in their production of La Cenrentola. He followed this by playing the only male role in The Medium, Mr Gobineaux with The DIT Operatic Society. In May 2019 Jakob performed the lead role of David in DITs production of The Hand of Bridge. Jakob has sung again in May 2019 in The Blackwater Opera festivals production of Don Pasquale. Later this year Jakob will perform with the National Opera Studio in Northern Ireland in their production of Die Fleidermouse.
Jakob sang the Baritone Solo in Vaughan Williams Five Mystical Songs in February 2018 in Manchester. In April 2019 Jakob sung with the Trinity College Choral Society as the Bass Soloist in their performance of The St Johns Passion.

Jakob will sing with North Wales Opera in their summertime scenes concert, were he will perform scenes from La Boheme, Die Zauberflöte, etc. and will make his role debut with North Welsh Opera in their production of Tosca were he will play the role of The Sacristan.
