Fionn Ó hAlmhain, bass

Fionn Ó hAlmhain

Fionn Ó hAlmhain is a young Bass from Ireland, born in Berlin. He began studies on the BMus in Traditional Irish music at Dublin’s Conservatory of Music and Drama in 2015 where he has now completed his final year. He joined the college choir and was picked out by Dr. Robert Alderson who offered him vocal lessons and this led to him pursuing training as an opera singer.

Since then Fionn has performed extensively both at home in Ireland and across the U.K. as a classical singer. Performances ranged from Polypheme in the Conservatory’s Operatic Society production of Handel’s Acis and Galatea and various productions as a bass in the Lyric Opera chorus to performances with the Salford Choral Society as the Bass soloist in Verdi’s Requiem and as Noye in Noye’s Fludde by Bitten, various performances with the Yorke Trust Opera in Norfolk including Handel’s Susanna, Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors and Purcell’s The Tempest.

Fionn auditioned and was selected for participation in the Glyndebourne Academy for gifted young singers in 2017 where he further developed his skills through intense work with some of the most wonderful guidance a young singer could hope for. He was also nominated for the Gus Christie Award through his participation in the academy.

Since then Fionn has continued to perform widely including Gala concerts with Una Voce, the Liverpool Opera Circle, as a Soloist with the TU Dublin Choral society for Rossini’s Petite Messe Solenelle and as a bass in the Irish National Opera Chorus. Fionn was also featured in the Irish National Opera’s young artist showcase in November 2018.

Fionn first appeared with the North Wales Opera studio in a Gala Concert with the Rhosllannerchrugog Male Voice Choir earlier this year and is excited to return as Angelotti, Ciarrone and the Jailer in NWO’s Tosca.
